Introduction to R
Into the tidyverse
Overview
R is a powerful and flexible programming language used by academics, corporations and governments all over the world.
This course will focus on the fundamentals of “the tidyverse”, a streamlined and flexible dialect of the R programming language.
In this course you will:
- Be introduced to the R language, the tidyverse dialect, and the RStudio interface
- Learn to use functions, objects, and packages: the core tools of the R language
- Practice writing clean and readable code
- Learn to interpret errors and warnings
- Learn the fundamentals of data wrangling
- Create clear and elegant data visualisations
By the end of this course you will be able to start working with R and know enough to teach yourself more.
Requirements
Prior knowledge
No prior knowledge in programming is required, while a genuine interest in statistical programming is welcome. This course assumes you are comfortable with basic math, algebra and logical operations.
Material
Each student must bring their own laptop with R and RStudio installed with recent versions. Please check the install tutorial to set it up prior to the course.
